Don:
Thank you for giving me the
opportunity to discuss AAC¹s proposal along with other issues relevant
to Whiteman Airport at the Airport Association meeting last night. I
thought that the discussion was very insightful and mutually
beneficial.
In an effort to promptly respond to
the Association membership¹s desire to obtain more information
regarding AAC¹s proposal, I have attached to this e-mail the PowerPoint
presentation that was shared at the last Stakeholder¹s Meeting as well
as the list of specific improvements that AAC would like to make at
each of the L.A. County airports this is the list that was provided
to L.A. County.
I also would like to briefly expand
on my verbal response last night to comments regarding the upcoming
development of hangars by Argubright Construction (Argubright).
* Argubright was granted the right via lease with the County to build a 4,000 square foot hangar at the end of A Row in 1999.
* Argubright approached us earlier this year to increase his parcel in order to build a 20,000 square foot hangar (100¹ x 200¹).
* We informed Argubright that we
believe that a 20,000 square foot hangar is not consistent with the
needs of the airport and that we have received comments from the
tenants and users of the Airport that they do not want any more large
hangars to be built at the airport. We asked him to revise his proposal
to reflect a development which will consist of multiple smaller hangars
instead of one large hangar. Argubright agreed to do so without
resistance or hesitation.
* Argubright came back with four
smaller box shaped hangars three of which are similar in size to County
hangars in C-Row (42¹x37¹) and BB-Row (42¹x37¹).
* Argubright has also proposed to
build one 3,000 square foot hangar (60¹x50¹) on the site to house his
T-28 and Cessna 421 (his lease in ¹99 provided for a 4,000 sf hangar).
It¹s important to note that it was
tenant comments received at stakeholder meetings that were acted upon
by AAC that reshaped the size of the hangars to be built at Whiteman
Airport by Argubright Construction. Again, Argubright willingly revised
his early plans to accommodate these tenant and user requests.
I would greatly appreciate it if you
could forward this e-mail to your membership as a follow-up to our
discussion last night. Again, I welcome open dialogue regarding these
and all issues relevant to Whiteman Airport. We have a great
opportunity to work together to ensure that Whiteman Airport continues
to provide quality products, services, and facilities to the general
aviation community and remains a valuable asset to the Los Angeles
County.
Regards,
Jason
